Juanjo Guarnido, known for his work on Blacksad, has collaborated with writer Alain Ayroles to launch a Kickstarter campaign for their latest historical graphic novel titled A Scoundrel in the New World. Set in the 17th-century Spanish Empire, the story centers on a deceptive con artist who is searching for the legendary city of El Dorado. The narrative draws inspiration from the satirical novel El Buscón and utilizes an unreliable narrator to recount life events to inquisitors. This project is the result of ten years of development and features Guarnido's distinct watercolor art style. Magnetic Press and Oni Press are managing the distribution, offering both standard and deluxe editions to supporters. The creators aim to pay tribute to classic Spanish literature through this detailed visual adventure. Are you interested in supporting historical graphic novels through crowdfunding platforms?
