A Review of the COMPRESSED Zine and Music Fair in San Diego
The COMPRESSED Zine and Music Fair recently showcased the vibrant DIY culture of the San Diego and Tijuana region. The event highlighted a diverse array of independent comics, music, and art through a collaboration between particle.fm and Burn All Books.
Held at Bread and Salt, the fair celebrated interdisciplinary creativity ranging from risograph-printed comics to experimental music. While the author praised the event's collaborative spirit and high-quality artistic output, they also reflected on the rising costs of specialized printing methods in the DIY community. Ultimately, the fair served as a hopeful gathering that successfully bridged the gap between various independent artistic mediums. It remains a significant local hub for discovering unique, uncategorizable works.
