Juanjo Guarnido and Alain Ayroles launch Kickstarter for A Scoundrel in the New World
Blacksad artist Juanjo Guarnido and writer Alain Ayroles have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their new historical graphic novel, A Scoundrel in the New World. The story follows a deceptive con artist searching for El Dorado in the 17th-century Spanish Empire.
Inspired by the classic satirical novel El Buscón, the narrative features an unreliable narrator recounting his life story to inquisitors. The project represents a decade of development and showcases Guarnido's signature watercolor style across a sprawling historical adventure. Magnetic Press and Oni Press are handling the release, which includes both standard and deluxe collector's editions. The campaign highlights the creators' dedication to honoring Spanish literature through detailed visual storytelling.
