KOMACON Reports H1 2025 Manhwa and Webtoon Industry Trends
The Korea Manhwa Contents Agency (KOMACON) has released its industry report for the first half of 2025, highlighting a continued contraction in the webtoon market. Despite this overall decline, the report notes growth in the adult webtoon sector and a slight resurgence in the print manhwa market.
The report reveals that 8,123 new webtoons were registered in the first half of 2025, marking a decrease from the previous year. Lezhin Comics led the industry in new webtoon launches, surpassing Naver Series. While digital manhwa production has declined, print manhwa saw a modest 2.2% increase. Industry experts suggest that platforms are becoming more risk-averse, favoring mainstream studio projects over independent titles.
