Marvel's 2004 Attempt to Troll DC Comics with Identity Disc
In 2004, Marvel Comics launched a miniseries titled Identity Disc specifically to capitalize on and mock the release of DC's Identity Crisis. The project was widely viewed as a petty marketing stunt that ultimately failed to gain traction with readers.

Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada spearheaded a period of aggressive competition against DC, leading to the creation of Identity Disc to confuse potential buyers of DC's event. The five-issue series featured a team of villains searching for a disc containing secret hero identities, mirroring the premise of its rival. Despite the intentional trolling, the book was largely ignored by fans who saw through the marketing ploy. While the story itself is considered a decent read, it remains a forgotten relic of Marvel's competitive era in the 2000s.
