Midnight X-Men #1 Review
The debut issue of Midnight X-Men introduces a world where mutant vampires known as Empyres clash with various factions. The story follows a complex power struggle involving characters like Gambit, Cyclops, and Nightcrawler.
Jonathan Hickman's latest Marvel release features high-stakes conflict and striking visuals, though the dense world-building may confuse new readers. While the art is technically impressive, the narrative struggles to clearly define the motivations of its many competing tribes. Ultimately, the issue serves as a challenging entry point that requires further context from other titles in the event. It earns a 3/5 rating for its ambitious concepts despite the initial lack of clarity.
