Muerte blanca by Kid Toussaint and Iñaki Holgado
Yermo Ediciones has released Muerte blanca, a war graphic novel inspired by the real-life stories of soldiers Simo Häyhä and Hiro Onoda. The narrative follows Riku, a Finnish man who transforms into a legendary sniper amidst the brutality of conflict.
The story explores the psychological descent of a man who becomes a machine of war, though the script occasionally struggles with pacing and character motivation. Iñaki Holgado provides exceptional artwork, utilizing expressive lines and atmospheric coloring to capture the harshness of the Finnish front. While the narrative development has some inconsistencies, the visual storytelling remains a standout feature of the work. The Spanish edition includes additional sketches that offer insight into the creative process.
