Requiem for Gaza: A New Work of Graphic Journalism
Joe Sacco and Chris Hedges collaborate on Requiem for Gaza, a graphic journalism project documenting the experiences of Palestinian families displaced from Gaza. The book combines Hedges' prose with Sacco's illustrations to highlight the human cost of the ongoing conflict.
The work features interviews with 29 families conducted in Cairo during the spring of 2025. Through a mix of comics and single images, the creators illustrate the severe hardships and resilience of those affected by the genocide. This publication serves as a visceral account of displacement, loss, and the struggle for survival. It is published by Fantagraphics and features a translation by Ruba Abu Zannad Jafar.
