The Bizarre Comic Origins of Tommy Maximoff
While the VisionQuest series explores the return of Tommy Maximoff, the original Marvel comics feature a significantly more surreal explanation for his existence. The character's history involves demonic fragments, reincarnation, and a villain with children for hands.
In the comics, Tommy and his brother Billy were inadvertently created from fragments of Mephisto's soul, leading to their eventual erasure from existence. Their spirits later reincarnated into new bodies after being discovered by the powerful entity M'Kraan. This complex origin story is far more eccentric than the narrative presented in the current television adaptation. The comics famously depicted these children being used as literal hand replacements by the villain Master Pandemonium.
