In his latest work, Les Enfants perdus, author Neyef presents a poignant story set in a ruined world where children are left to fend for themselves. This narrative serves as a dark reinterpretation of the classic Peter Pan myth, stripping away the magic to focus on a group of abandoned youths living in a devastated metropolis. Characters like Casper and his companions form a makeshift family, struggling to survive while navigating violence and the loss of innocence. Rather than a simple tale about refusing to grow up, the comic explores the difficulty of maturing in a harsh environment. Neyef combines adventure, social commentary, and a cruel fairy tale aesthetic to depict these broken childhoods. How do you feel about modern comic adaptations that transform classic, whimsical stories into gritty, realistic tales of survival?
