Egmont Manga, formerly known as Egmont Manga & Anime, stands as a prominent publisher within the German market. Established in 2000 as a subsidiary of Egmont Ehapa, the company grew following the rising popularity of manga at the turn of the millennium. While the broader publishing firm has roots dating back to 1878 in Copenhagen, the manga division gained significant momentum with titles like Sailor Moon in the late nineties. Headquartered in Cologne since 2003, the publisher maintains a unique connection to Japan through an on-site advisor. Beyond print, the company has historically engaged with the community through events like the Connichi convention and publishes a semi-annual program preview called Shinkan. As the landscape of international manga publishing continues to evolve, what are your favorite classic titles that helped introduce you to the medium?
