Batman #14 Review: An Unexpected Pop Quiz
Batman #14 struggles to maintain its momentum as it relies heavily on external plot threads from Detective Comics. The issue feels disjointed for readers who haven't kept up with the broader event.
The story follows Batman's search for Mister Freeze to help save Gotham while Verity Pennyworth deals with intruders at the manor. While the banter between Bruce and Verity provides a welcome touch of humor, the narrative feels convoluted and lacks clear motivation for certain character conflicts. Matteo Scalera and Tomeu Morey deliver impressive visuals, particularly in their use of color to convey the encroaching cold. Ultimately, the issue suffers from feeling like an unannounced test that requires significant prior reading to fully understand.
