Digital Comics Roundup: Neon Ichiban Brings Back In-App Purchases
Neon Ichiban has reintroduced in-app purchasing for iOS users, while Tapas has confirmed its upcoming shutdown date. Additionally, GlobalComix is expanding its library with new partnerships, and the Sweet Shop app has officially launched.
Neon Ichiban's latest update allows users to purchase comics directly within the iOS app, reversing a long-standing industry trend. Meanwhile, Tapas will cease operations on March 31, 2027, with no refunds provided for unused currency. GlobalComix is absorbing several titles from the closing platform and adding new content from Kadokawa. Finally, the Sweet Shop app has exited beta, offering a single-purchase model for comics from various major publishers.
