Donald Duck Vacation Parade
This silent comic book features Donald Duck on a chaotic camping trip, utilizing classic physical comedy and expressive art. It is a successful collaboration between Disney and creators outside the traditional Duck comic sphere.
The story follows Donald as he attempts to escape city life for the quiet of a national park, only to be tormented by various animals. Frédéric Bertolucci delivers masterful, wordless storytelling through detailed, painted panels that evoke the style of vintage animated shorts. The Fantagraphics hardcover release features high-quality paper and excellent color reproduction that highlights the artist's brushwork. This book serves as a great example of how non-traditional creators can effectively interpret classic Disney characters.
