Naver Webtoon Report Shows Surge in Legitimate Revenue Following Illegal Site Shutdowns
Naver Webtoon's latest 'Toon Radar Report' reveals that closing major illegal sites like Newtoki significantly boosts legitimate user acquisition and revenue. The data indicates that most new paying users are returning readers who previously consumed pirated content.

Following the shutdown of the illegal site Newtoki, works that were previously leaked on release day saw a 7.9-fold increase in new paying users. Revenue for these titles grew by nearly 30% in the three weeks immediately following the site's closure. Naver Webtoon continues to utilize its proprietary 'Toon Radar' technology to block 99.8% of illegal distribution by identifying leakers through invisible watermarks. The company is also actively collaborating with international law enforcement agencies to shut down overseas piracy operations.
