Naver Webtoon Sees Revenue Spike Following Closure of Illegal Site 'NewToki'
The closure of the illegal webtoon site 'NewToki' led to a significant increase in new purchases for Naver Webtoon. Data shows that revenue for affected titles rose substantially immediately following the site's shutdown.

Following the closure of NewToki in April, Naver Webtoon reported an 8-fold increase in new purchases for titles previously targeted by piracy. Analysis from the company's 'Toon Radar' report indicates that 96% of these new buyers were existing readers returning to legitimate channels. Revenue for these specific titles grew by nearly 30% in the three weeks following the site's closure. Naver Webtoon continues to utilize its proprietary 'Toon Radar' system, which maintains a 99.8% defense rate against the illegal distribution of paid episodes.
