Stan Sakai and Soo Lee team up for TMNT: The First Ronin in March 2027
IDW Publishing has announced a new five-issue series titled TMNT: The First Ronin, set in feudal Japan. The story features yōkai versions of the Turtles and serves as a spiritual predecessor to The Last Ronin.
Written by Stan Sakai with art by Soo Lee, the series follows General Kameyama as he encounters four mysterious yōkai warriors. This project reimagines the Turtles through the lens of Japanese folklore rather than traditional mutation. The first issue is scheduled to arrive in comic shops in March 2027. Fans can currently pre-order the series through their local retailers.
