Launched in March 1964 by Bennet, Coleman & Co, Indrajal Comics became a significant series in India. Initially featuring The Phantom, the publication later included various King Features characters like Mandrake and Flash Gordon. By 1976, the series also introduced the Indian hero Bahadur. The comics underwent several format changes, transitioning from monthly to fortnightly and eventually weekly schedules. The production featured full-colour pages starting from the eighth issue. Beyond the main stories, the books included general knowledge snippets, humour strips, and advertisements for popular Indian brands. While the series reprinted western content, it also adapted stories for local readers by modifying names and locations. The publication concluded in April 1990 with its 805th issue.
