Elex Media Komputindo, a subsidiary of the Kompas Gramedia Group, has been a significant publisher in Indonesia since its founding in 1985. Initially focused on computer-themed literature, the company became a pioneer in the Indonesian manga industry starting in 1991 with the release of Candy Candy. Over the decades, they expanded their catalog to include iconic titles like Dragon Ball and Doraemon, while also supporting local creators. By 2008, the publisher had released nearly 7,500 comic volumes. The company later introduced Level Comics in 2005 to manage adult-themed content with specific age ratings tailored for local readers, and launched the Romic line for European comics in 2009. Beyond comics, they continue to publish various genres including novels and self-help books. Which classic manga series do you remember first reading through an Elex Media publication?
