Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre Presents: The Kaiju of Oz #1 Review
The first issue of IDW's crossover series blends the Wizard of Oz with Godzilla for an irreverent, comedic take. While the artwork and humor are highlights, the story ultimately lacks the thematic depth expected from these iconic franchises.

Written by Mike Costa with art by Ryan Browne, the comic features a chaotic team-up between Dorothy Gale and Godzilla. The creative team utilizes subversive humor and creative SFX lettering to maintain an absurdist tone throughout the narrative. Despite strong visual designs and fun gags, the book fails to explore the complex metaphors inherent in its source material. A backup story featuring Godzilla and Robin Hood concludes the issue with dynamic action sequences.
